SFGC commissioned work "The Line Between
excited to open the 2021-2022 sesonon October 16 with the virtual release of an SFGC commissioned work by Cava Menzies called "The Line Between," featuring renowned GRAMMY Award-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth.
Roomful of Teeth, SFGC's Spring 2021 Virtual Artists-in-Residence, are pioneers in the contemporary music scene that bridge classical, world music, and pop. Their debut album won a GRAMMY Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance in 2014. Also featured on this album is ensemble member Caroline Shaw Partita for 8 Voices which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Music.
This free virtual stream will also include insightful video content compiled by Roomful of Teeth bass baritone Dashon Burton, as well as interviews with SFGC Artistic Director Valerie Sainte Agathe, Roomful of Teeth alto Virginnia Warnken Kelsey, and composer Cava Menzies.
